Game Comments :
GOLD looked like they had a lock on this one with a 4 to 1 lead until they gave up three goals late in the third! GOLD hangs on to win and claim the President's Cup. Two amazing things in this one. The first was the "sleight of pad" performed by Jeff Herr on a puck that was in the net ...not in the net...in the net...not in the net...then amazingly appeared safely between his pads for a stoppage in play! Gotta teach that one to me, Jeff! The second was the blistering shot by Dan Baljet from the center ice faceoff circle on the empty BLUE net in the last minute of play. All the players were stunned as the amazing shot glided and glided and glided past the blue line then glided and glided and glided through the slot and glided and glided and glided into the empty net as the entire BLUE team (all 6 on the ice, remember, they had already pulled the goalie) watched from the center ice circle! This was obviously a planned play, as they took the next faceoff into GOLD's zone and scored about 5 seconds later. |
