Game 2 Blue – VS – Red
First Period
Mike Bohr – VS – George (The Chief) Hickman
The boys did all they could to score but the goalies were having none of it. Red’s Grind Line was doing everything the coach could ask for except putting the puck in the net. Blues D set up solid breakouts only to see the puck coming back the other way just as fast. From behind the glass this was a great game 0 – 0 at the end of one.
Second Period
More the same back and forth, zone to zone great shots turned away at both ends of the ice. (6:45) (XXX) Scully took the puck up the right side as both teams went for the change. Ted Bishop read the opportunity sprang over the boards to center ice. Scully’s pass sent Bishop in all alone on the right side, we heard the clang of puck on iron, it was under the cross bar. 1 -0 Blue. Both teams kept it going but the goalies held tough. On to the third.
Third Period
(9:11) emergency call put in Red’s sub Bill Jackvich answered beating Bohr and tying the game which lead to more of the same. Two teams both looking for the win, fore-checking, back-checking, no one wanting give the other team an inch. At (2:02) a break for Blue when they went on the power play and it paid off big. (1:23) (XXXX) Lengjel picks up the puck and hits Craig Eaton and Eaton gives Blue their second lead of the night. Blue was feeling the win when again (0:25) Jackovich starts the play this time hitting Mitch McCann, McCann seeing Tod Gazetti drop in to slot put the puck through the crowd, Gazetti let a one timer go that Bohr couldn’t get. It was Red’s second and the second tie of the night. 2 – 2. What will game three hold?
