Game Comments :

Game 2 Red vs. White (Both teams coming off big wins)

White welcomed back Doug Camper who cleared waivers and went to bar for the much anticipated Christmas Party. Red stayed behind and ran up the score.

1st

(7:47) Bill Jackovich’s pass to Mitch McCann started it off. McCann hit Terry Lampman and Lampman froze Jeff Zyrek to make it 1-0 Red. White settled it down, and it looked like it was going to be a great game, but again the opposing goalie, this time George (The Chief) Hickman, was going to own the puck. White controlled most of the period until (2:35) when the Foley brothers got it going. Dale Pioch took the zone passing the puck to Tim Foley, Tim set up Mike, and Zyrek didn’t have a chance. 2-0 Red. Ten seconds later (2:35) Bill Jackovich’s pass sent Lampman up the right side for his second of the night. 3-0 Red. Twenty six seconds later (1:59) it was Lampman from McCann, and the hats were off (3) for Lampman. Less than a minute later Tod Gazetti’s pass was tape to tape and it sent Dennis Murphy up the left side. In a “Dan-Murphy-like” display, Dennis Murphy skated around the D, took the puck to the corner, spun around and headed for the net. It looked like Zyrek had him, but Murphy pulled the puck back then fired for the upper corner, WOW! 5-0 Red. The talk around the rink was that the NHL network and ESPN are negotiating with Murphy’s agent for the video rights. Dennis could not be reached for comment.

2nd.

Looking at the scoreboard you’d think it was all over, but not from (The Chief) Hickman’s spot. White was in control, and the puck went to the net more times than we could count (and Billy thinks he gets the most shots!). At (8:22), Gazetti gets 2 for a hook and puts White on the power play, but, (The Chief) Hickman was great, stopping everything White could send at him. (4:46) With White again almost scoring (if only it were horse shoes), and Red needing a change, Mike Foley sent the puck up the boards. Dennis Murphy got behind the D taking the puck through center Ice. Tim Foley stayed on the ice through the change and Murphy made the pass. Tim’s shot was in the net. 6-0 Red. (4:04) Still no quit in White, as they took the game to Red. Finally, White gets on the board with Brian Thompson passing to Keith Omand and it was 6-1 Red. (The Chief) Hickman was beatable. The goal stoked the fire and White’s attack intensified. (The Chief) Hickman had his hands full. At the end of 2, it was 6-1 Red.

3rd

Can we go to the bar now? Not yet. (6:22) Zyrek read Gazetti’s shot all the way in and so did Dennis Murphy, popping in the rebound (his usual type of garbage) picking up his second of night. 7-1 Red. (5:15) It was Pioch setting it up again, hitting Lampman with an across the zone pass. Ed Hallett jumped into the play and Lampman’s pass gave Hallett his first of the night, 8-1 Red. That’s all there was. Now we can go to the bar, right? Oh wait, what about game 3?
