Game 3 Green –vs- Red (Christmas is in the air) Oh!!!!!!!White Won!!!!
1st
(9:17) Red was ready, and took full advantage of sub goalie Mike Allemon’s naiveté, who learned early about how quick the ROSH league really is. Paul Morgan won the draw back to Ed Frank. Frank carried the puck up to center ice, setting up the dump and chase. Dennis Murphy, reading the play, picked up the puck, cut to the front of the net and put it past Allemon before he even knew it was there. (8:42) Mitch McCann hit Ed Hallett breaking down the right side and Hallett buried it. Again it looked like Allemon couldn’t believe how fast the level of play is, but, he took it in stride and shut the Big Red Machine down the rest of the period. Green had several chances but George (The Chief) Hickman was playing with a 2 goal lead and wouldn’t be beat. 2 - 0 Red, on to period 2.
2nd
Early in the 2nd period, Red got the puck deep into Green’s zone when the ever steady Pat Grady made a heads up play, getting the puck up to a well-rested George McKenzie. Red’s D was caught pinching in, as McKenzie carried the puck up the ice. Tom Nikkila, following up on the play, took McKenzie’s pass and buried it (8:46). 2 -1 Red. The goalies carried the play until (1:51) when Al Pyc pushed the puck up the boards into the zone, firing the shot on The Chief, who was there for the first save, but Tom Carpenter picked up the rebound and tied the game for Green 2 - 2.
3rd
The both teams were playing tight D, the puck was in the corners and the slot was guarded. At (5:24) the mercenaries (Subs) got their chance, as Green went for a change, Bill Jackovich passed up to Paul Morgan. Good thing for Red, Green was in the locker room. Just like in game 2: “Paul Morgan puts on a show, a juke to the right, a twist left, a quick turn around and a snap shot to the upper right side of the net.” 3 - 2 Red, and that’s the way it ended. Oh!!!!!!!White Won!!!!
