Blue vs. Black (Another Football metaphor the Blue and Black Division, or was it the Black and Blue division, no that’s next Sunday)
1st.
This had all the makings of a great goalie match as the two youngsters Herr and Haines went head to head. Both goalies were putting on a clinic until Lew Bishop reading game as the crafty veteran he is drifted in form point to the high slot, Duane recognized the opportunity and sent the pass to Lew who got the puck to Phil Finazzo to put in what ended up being the game winner. 1-zip Black at the end of one.
2nd
The puck dropped and in under a minute (9:02) Baljet picked up the puck and put by Haines to make it 2-0. Didn’t Blue get the memo the theme for tonight was Kiss your Sister? The rest of the second and most of the third blended together as the goalies stopped everything.
3rd
Blue did take the game to Black but Herr was on top of his game, stopping a barrage of shots. Even a shot that most of the fans thought was in but wasn’t as Herr pulled it back off the goal line just millimeters from Blues first goal. At the other end, Haines was also putting on show stopping everything Black could throw at him. Blue killed off a long penalty and didn’t even allow a shot through the 5 on 3 part of the kill. Then with just 32 seconds left Eaton found the back of the net on a pass from Dubetz and Dan Murphy. Just as the 2nd period had begun Baljet ended the game putting in the final shot at (0:06). Final score 4-0 Black. Blue, look at the schedule. Next Sunday night is your chance for redemption in the third of our home and home games next week. OK there is Sacred Elixir (Beer) in the locker room too.
