Game Comments : Orange vs. Gold (The Citrus Bowl?)
These two teams kept everyone on the edge of their seats. OK, drinking Sacred Elixir (Beer) in the corner cheering and laughing at the game.
1st
Orange started out with Dennis Murphy taking the pass from Ted Bishop (sub) and Slater at 9:19 they made it look easy (Are these guys practicing?). Then it appeared that Gold woke up. It was back and forth through the 1st with no more scoring. So much for the edge of your seats, good thing that the fans had beer.
2nd
Gold charged right in, peppering Bohr. Bohr made three saves but had the misfortune of sending two rebounds straight to Lampman. Seeing Lampman’s stats, Bohr probably didn’t think he had much to worry about, (I know Terry, F@ You) but on this occasion, Lampman made Bohr pay with his third shot pulling it back and top shelving it, even bouncing the water bottle. (It was one for the highlight show) at 9:42. Less than a minute later (8:49) Ted Bishop would light the light on a pass from Dennis Murphy and Wyatt Gee. Hickman tried to get it, but the shot was perfect and the puck was in the net before anyone knew it. (Lou Bishop proudly announced “I taught him that”). Then it was Lampman again at 6:19 putting on show, by taking a pass from Eslinger, skating across the front of the net, and tucking the puck in to opposite direction. Bohr tried reaching back but there was nothing he could do, the score now was 2-2. Less than a minute later (5:27), Carpenter put Gold out in front on a pass from Lengjel, giving Gold the period and a 3-2 lead.
3rd
The third started fast with Lampman again, (picking up the second hat of the night) on a pass from Gazetti at the 8:42 mark. Gold was looking confident being up by 2. Did they miss the first game? With 5:28 to go, Dennis Murphy took the pass from Drouillard going up the right side, let the shot go and it went under Hickman. Orange was not done yet and kept up the pressure when at the 2 minute warning (oh sorry, wrong sport, but it is Sunday), Comiskey (sub) got the puck to Hallett who found Gee. Gee tied it up with a shot that got underneath Hickman. That was that, 4 - 4 at the end of 3, kiss your sister goodnight, again 3 more periods to go next Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.
